As of September 2009, The Bushwick Starr announced the official beginning of our venue as a Presenting Organization. We are excited to have embarked on a shift towards creating diverse and structured performance seasons, and helping to produce artists whose work we believe in. This marks an exciting change for our organization- an opportunity to begin to cultivate powerful programming and offer consistent and exciting new work to our community of theater-goers. Our goal is to build longevity as an arts space with a strong voice and vision.

The Bushwick Starr is currently raising funds for our upcoming performance season. This Fall '09 + Spring '10, we will be helping to produce the following artists:

Van Cougar - "ROCKY PHILLY" (September 2009)
Reggie Watts + Tommy Smith - "OCCURENCE" (October 2009)
Bow and Sparrow - "NEVER AFTER" (November 2009)
Lollo Birgitta Duo Trapeze - "THE MONTESSORI CIRCUS SHOW" (December 2009)

Pass Kontrol - "NEW HOPE CITY" (February 2010)
Target Margin Theater - "ANNUAL PERFORMANCE LAB" (March 2010)
The Bushwick Starr - "THE BUSHWHACK SERIES" (May 2010)

In addition to our upcoming season of programming, we are also seeking support for the following long-term projects:

"THE BAND OF PUPPETS FEST" - produced by The Bushwick Starr (slated for Fall 2010)
We are excited to develop BAND OF PUPPETS as an annual puppetry festival, featuring short new work from selected puppetry artists. Each year, the festival will be based around the musical repertoire of a well known band/musician- one who’s music is visual and inspiring, and who’s material can serve as a backdrop or focal element for the artists to work with. For our premier festival, we will be working with music from The Talking Heads.

"BIG GREEN THEATER" - produced by The Bushwick Starr (slated for Spring 2011)
BIG GREEN involves combining an Environmental Education initiative with local schools, along with the presentation of a full-scale performance within the Green Theater/Eco-Theater movement. Our goal is to establish this program as an annual community theater festival that will address both global and local environmental issues in a constructive and creative way.
